SAY GOODBYE TO SAGGING SKIN AND GET FIRM SKIN

Body flaccidity occurs with the loss of tone and firmness in the skin and muscle tissues. In addition to the face, the most affected areas are usually the arms, thighs, buttocks and abdomen. Sagging of the inner arms is one of the signs of body flaccidity that most concern women. Another area that commonly suffers from sagging is the breast, due to age, sudden weight loss and especially as a result of childbearing and breastfeeding.

Causes of body flaccidity

Sagging of the skin is mainly caused by the skin’s ageing process, as the production of collagen and elastin decreases over the years. The dermis becomes thinner as the body forms fewer fibres, and some of the subcutaneous fat is lost subcutaneous fat and the skin’s muscle mass.

Flabby muscle tissue is mainly due to a sedentary lifestyle without regular physical activity. Other factors can also provoke or accentuate its appearance. These include sudden changes in weight, a diet low in protein and high in fats and carbohydrates, or hormonal imbalances such as those caused by menopause. Prolonged unprotected exposure to the sun is also very harmful, as it generates large amounts of free radicals to accumulate in the skin, leading to oxidation and tissue deterioration. Excessive solar radiation also causes dehydration and destruction of collagen and elastin. Smoking or certain drugs such as corticosteroids can also cause sagging of the body. Stress and lack of sleep also slow cell renewal and may affect appearance.

HOW TO COMBAT BODY FLACCIDITY

healthy lifestyle is essential to prevent body flaccidity. The first step is to eat a balanced, protein-rich diet. You should avoid “miracle diets” that make you lose weight too quickly because they usually cause you to lose water and muscle mass rather than fat. In addition, sudden changes in weight cause a consequent sagging of the skin, which means it becomes flaccid. Choosing foods rich in collagen, Vitamin C, sulphur, Omega 3, selenium and zinc, such as oily fish, nuts, seeds, or vegetables is important. Excess sugar, on the other hand, accelerates collagen destruction, so sweets should be consumed in moderation. Drinking about 2 litres of water daily is essential to provide the body tissues with sufficient water.

In addition, regular physical exercise is essential, including aerobic and other more specific exercises to treat the muscles in the areas where flaccidity appears. Regularly applying firming creams and avoiding excessive exposure to the sun, especially without protection, are recommended.

Various aesthetic treatments for body flaccidity can be used to restore firm and elastic skin.

AESTHETIC TREATMENTS AGAINST BODY FLACCIDITY

Various aesthetic and medical treatments are available to combat flaccidity in the body, such as circulatory massages, body mesotherapy,  calcium hydroxyapatite fillers, radiofrequencyHIFU technology or shock waves.

Body mesotherapy consists of superficial microinjections that restore the skin’s firming properties.

Another possible treatment is calcium hydroxyapatite fillers, a biocompatible substance that stimulates the production of new collagen when injected into the skin.
Radiofrequency is a technique widely used in aesthetic medicine that heats the skin in depth, favouring the creation of collagen and stimulating blood circulation.

HIFU technology uses ultrasound to firm the tissues by regenerating the skin’s collagen and elastin without damaging it.
We also have shock waves, which can be enormously beneficial in combating body flaccidity, especially in combination with other therapies.

At Clínica Vila Parc, we have the revolutionary Cyclone, which combines several technologies perfect for firming the skin in a single machine: radiofrequency, cavitation and HIFU, and lymphatic drainage. It is one of the best and most effective treatments available to combat flaccidity, as the results are visible from the first session. Moreover, it is a non-invasive treatment with no side effects.
